Bubble Hash Equipment Guide

Complete shopping lists at 4 budget levels. Every item has a real price in CAD, a real product name, and a real place to buy it in Canada.

Before You Buy Anything

The "green tax" is real. Anything marketed specifically for cannabis extraction costs 2-5x more than the identical item sold for other purposes. A mini washing machine is $45 at Walmart. Rebrand it as a "bubble hash machine" and it's $150. Same motor, same drum, different sticker.

We'll call out the green tax wherever we see it. Buy smart.

Use our bag selector first. Don't buy an 8-bag set if you only need 4 bags. That tool tells you exactly which micron sizes match your goals.

Tier 1: Starter โ€” $80โ€“130 CAD

For your first wash. Find out if you even like making hash before investing real money. Everything from Amazon.ca or your local hardware store.

๐ŸŸข Starter Setup $80โ€“130 total
  • BubbleBagDude 5-gallon 5-bag set Amazon.ca$55โ€“75
  • 5-gallon bucket ร— 2 Home Depot / Canadian Tire$8
  • Bag of ice (10 lb) Any gas station / grocery store$5
  • Wooden spoon or paint stirrer Dollar store$2
  • Microplane grater Canadian Tire / Amazon.ca$12โ€“18
  • Parchment paper roll Grocery store$4
  • Pizza box (or any cardboard box) Free โ€” ask any pizza shop$0

What this gets you: A complete working setup. You stir by hand with a spoon (tedious but effective), collect in budget bags, and dry with the microplane + pizza box method. Not glamorous, not fast, but it works.

Limitations: Hand stirring is tiring and inconsistent. Bottom-mesh bags drain slow. You'll know within two washes if you want to upgrade.

Tier 2: Standard โ€” $200โ€“350 CAD

You liked your first wash and want to do this regularly. Better bags, mechanical agitation, and a few quality-of-life upgrades.

๐Ÿ”ต Standard Setup $200โ€“350 total
  • Rosin Evolution full-mesh 8-bag set (5-gallon) Amazon.ca$90โ€“120
  • Mini portable washing machine (Zeny / Costway) Amazon.ca โ€” search "mini washing machine" NOT "bubble hash machine"$45โ€“65
  • 5-gallon bucket ร— 2 Home Depot$8
  • 20 lb bag ice Grocery store$8
  • Digital thermometer Amazon.ca / Canadian Tire$12
  • Microplane grater Amazon.ca$15
  • 25ฮผ pressing screen Included with most bag sets$0
  • Parchment paper + pizza boxes Grocery / free$4
  • Food-grade silica gel packets (20-pack) Amazon.ca$10

Green tax alert: The exact same mini washing machine sold as a "portable clothes washer" for $45โ€“65 is rebranded as a "Bubble Magic Machine" or "hash washing machine" for $150โ€“200. Same motor. Same drum. Same Chinese factory. Search "mini portable washing machine" on Amazon.ca instead of anything with "hash" or "bubble" in the name.

What this gets you: Full-mesh bags for faster drainage and less microplastic risk. A machine for consistent agitation (your arms will thank you). A thermometer so you can actually monitor temperature instead of guessing.

Tier 3: Serious โ€” $500โ€“900 CAD

You're washing multiple times per season and want quality results every time. Better vessel, RO water, and a proper drying setup.

๐ŸŸ  Serious Setup $500โ€“900 total
  • Original Bubble Bag full-mesh 8-bag set (5-gal) bubblebag.com โ€” ships from Canada$160โ€“200
  • Stainless steel brew kettle (8-gallon) Amazon.ca โ€” search "brew kettle" NOT "hash vessel"$60โ€“100
  • Drill paint mixer attachment Home Depot / Canadian Tire$15
  • Cordless drill (if you don't have one) Canadian Tire$80โ€“120
  • SimPure countertop RO system Amazon.ca$80โ€“130
  • Digital thermometer Amazon.ca$12
  • Desiccant vault drying setup DIY โ€” see drying guide$50โ€“80
  • Microplane + parchment + pizza boxes Various$20
  • 40 lb ice Grocery store$15

Green tax alert: A stainless steel brew kettle is $60-100 on Amazon.ca. The "Bruteless" โ€” a stainless vessel marketed for hash washing โ€” is $800-1,200 USD. They're both stainless steel containers. The Bruteless has a nice drain valve, which you can add to a brew kettle with a $15 weldless bulkhead fitting.

What this gets you: Stainless steel = no microplastics from the vessel. RO water = clean, mineral-free washes. The OG bags = consistent micron accuracy and years of durability. A drill mixer = controlled, consistent agitation without a cheap washing machine motor burning out.

Tier 4: Premium โ€” $2,000+ CAD

Semi-commercial or you just have the budget and want the best. Commercial vessel, freeze dryer, and everything dialled in.

๐Ÿ”ด Premium Setup $2,000โ€“6,000+ total
  • Hashtek mini wash vessel hashtek.ca โ€” Canadian company$1,200โ€“2,000
  • The Press Club or Original Bubble Bag full-mesh set thepressclub.co / bubblebag.com$200โ€“350
  • Harvest Right medium freeze dryer harvestright.com (ships to Canada)$3,500โ€“4,500
  • RO system (under-sink) Home Depot / plumber install$200โ€“400
  • Infrared thermometer Amazon.ca$25
  • Vacuum sealer (for fresh frozen) Canadian Tire / Costco$60โ€“100

This is overkill for 4 plants. If you're washing Canada's legal 4-plant personal limit, Tier 2 or 3 is more than enough. Tier 4 is for people washing pounds regularly, doing it commercially, or who simply want the best gear regardless of cost.

Hashtek is a Canadian company (hashtek.ca) making commercial-grade wash vessels. They're the real deal โ€” stainless, proper drain valves, built to last. Worth the price if you're scaling up.

What You Don't Need (But Companies Want to Sell You)

Branded "hash paddles" โ€” $30-50. A wooden spoon works. A paint mixer in a drill works better.

Specialty "hash drying screens" โ€” $40-80. Parchment paper on cardboard does the same job. Or use the pressing screen that came with your bags.

"Cannabis cleaning solution" for bags โ€” $25. Rubbing alcohol (isopropyl, $5 at Shoppers Drug Mart) cleans bags perfectly. Rinse with water after.

A separate dedicated freezer โ€” $300+. Your existing kitchen freezer works. If you're doing fresh frozen, just clear a shelf.
